...to all of you for you sending your experiences, ideas, suggestions, etc. I'm not doing better this morning. I will call the doctor's office this morning to ask for an appointment as soon as possiblee. The good news about my knee is that going up and down on the stairs is not a problem. No pain. When I sit for a while, it's hard to get up and my first steps are pretty tentative and shaky. I have to be extremely careful. I'm going to be kind erratic as far as blogging goes for the next few days and weeks.
(responding to previous post) Dear Ken, don't be too hard on yourself; it's easy to become disoriented in the dark, especially when you're half asleep and ill. Do you have a nightlight? It helps us to stay vertical. Thinking of you both and hoping for fast improvement. -- Chrissoup
ReplyDeleteHoping for relief for you, soon :) Who ever knows what issue it is, when dealing with a knee. I can tell you that one time, a year or so ago, I strained one of the tendons in the knee somewhere, and I just could not put weight on my knee, including getting up from a chair, and my husband insisted on taking me to the emergency room. There, they determined that nothing was broken or torn, it was an over-use strain (or something like that), so things were inflamed and tender. They gave me a muscle relaxer shot, and instructions for icing for a few minutes throughout the day, and then a prescription for heavy duty Ibuprofen (which battles inflammation) and (if I wanted to use it) a muscle relaxer pill. It all got better pretty quickly, within the week. So... I'm not trying to diagnose you, at all, I'm only saying that there are several possibilities for a sudden soft-tissue tenderness in the knee, and doctors fix these things up quickly, all the time.
ReplyDeleteAll this would be easier if you weren't dealing with a cough and cold at the same time. So glad the steps aren't a problem.
ReplyDeleteKen I hope you feel better and that you and the doctor find a simple solution!
ReplyDeleteMy suggested, you discuss your medications, if you take too much high blood pressure medicine, that can lead to light headed and falling incidents. Whatever it is, hopefully you and the doc can correct it, best wishes!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your fall, Ken. I hope there were no bones broken. It must have been disconcerting not only to fall but then be frustrated treying to get back up. The fear of falling may be at the top of the list of concerns among the elderly, i.e., folks of our age.. I think about that possibility often when going down a flight of stairns, especially when carrying things and not always having access to a railing. When I visit the doctor for my annual visit, it's one of the concerns that always comes up. Please do take care going forward..
ReplyDeleteHi Bob, I'll see the doctor this week, I hope. It's not always easy to get an appointment.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well, Ken. I've had knee issues before, but in your case it sounds like it may be just a muscle or tendon strain. I've found that ice works well several times a day.
