Montgolfières survolant le vignoble
Yesterday morning at about 7:15, I did what I normally do at that hour: I look out the window in our guest bedroom to see what's happening out in the vineyard. I was surprised to see a hot-air balloon floating low over the vines. I went downstairs and out into the back yard to snap a photo.
When I got out to the back gate, I realized that there were many more balloons than just one flying by. As I stood there with my camera, I counted as many as 20 of them, and there may have been more. As one flotilla flew over and disapeared behind the trees that separate the two vineyards out there, more and more ballons came flying in from the south. I couldn't get them all in one photo.

I love this! That is like having a party come to your doorstep!
ReplyDeleteIt was exciting, for sure. I wish I knew what destination all those balloons were flying to. I like think it was Chenonnceau, but I don't know where they would land. Maybe it was the château de Chaumont sur Loire, where there is a big plot of land where I've seen hot-air balloons land before.
DeleteThis is an unusual situation, but I need to leave a comment for my friend Evelyn, who comments here. Evelyn, can you send me an e-mail so that I can make sure I have your latest address? It's about Paris in the month of June, and involves Claude too. I hope you see this and can send me an e-mail so that can write back and be more specific about what's going on. It's all good news, I think.
ReplyDeletewill do!
DeleteI wrote to your gmail address.
DeleteWow, that’s so very beautiful. It makes me feel peaceful.
ReplyDeleteHow magical. A hot air balloon ride is still on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing hot air baloons and have never seen so many. What joy!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a few wander by - always an excitement - not sure they are "allowed" now - what a shame.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely picture but wild horses would not get me into one of those!
ReplyDeleteWow, very cool, Ken!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice start to your day! Ours too. // Today is my French teacher's birthday, and the Hallmark store had a birthday card in French. That was a bit of a surprise. - Chrissoup
ReplyDeleteAlthough I've not been there to see it, Albuquerque, New Mexico boasts (claims?) the world's largest hot air balloon festival every October. Over 500 balloons lift off during the nine day event. It's always a treat to see one unexpectedly on the horizon.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! There are few things so enchanting as seeing so many hot air balloons over a vineyard! Just peaceful , romantic, and even heavenly! I've never been in one ... and I haven't yet decided if I choose to go up in one, since my french book I'm reading is about a hot air balloon that kills a woman in a crash! And, it is a contemporary setting!
