No, this is not France

It's North Carolina, the coast, where I grew up. I haven't been back there for six or seven years now. I'm starting to get homesick. Or should I say seasick, because one thing I really miss about it, besided family and friends, is the sea. The Atlantic Ocean, just a few miles from where the Gulf Stream forms and flows northeast across the ocean, taking some warmth to France, Ireland, Great Britain, and Scandinavia.

From the photos I've chosen to post, I guess you can tell that I really enjoy stormy days at the beach.

  1. Try to get to the coast before too long. My daughter and family are having a nice fall break of the Gulf of Mexico right now.

  2. Very different than the beaches of Normandy.

    1. The North Carolina coast is all sand. Most beaches in France are pretty rocky, except in the south west, south of Bordeaux.

  3. I love the shore. Growing up in New Jersey, we took day trips, and we vacationed (when our family could afford it) at the shore, and, as a kid, I was content spending all day up at the water, all sandy and salt water covered, sitting on a towel playing cards with my sisters, then back in again to ride the wave swells on a blow-up raft, then out again, then in again... the smell of Sea-and-Ski suntan lotion and Coppertone still hang in my memory :)
