The château in Saint-Aignan is about 1.5 miles from our house. The first fortifications were built on the site nearly a thousand years ago, and the residential château dates back about 500 years. The château is not open to the public. The town itself has a population of about 3,000. It's 35 miles east of the city of Tours and 25 miles south of the big town of Blois.
I'm taking a day off. It's a rainy day. We need the rain. Our yard is parched. Temperatures today are supposed to stay in the low 70s F.
Oh, I don't think that I've ever seen an aerial view of the château. Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteI've been curious, also, about CHM's house in Arlington. Was that sold before or during the time when he was living in the rehab facility, in the last years of his life, or was that left in limbo, too?
CHM sold the house in Arlington when he was in the rehab center there. He also sold the house in Salton City Calif. a few years earlier. Frank died in 2006.
DeleteWhat a great view of the chateau - it really shows you the layout! Re chm's house in Arlington, I think he had a neighbor help him negotiate the sale with a realtor while he was in the rehab place. At least that's what I think he said...
ReplyDeleteI didn't take this picture. I just found it deep in my photo archives. I don't know where it came from or who took it.
