More good news: The Citroën C4 passed its
contrôle technique inspection yesterday morning. I just did this calculation — over the past 24 months we have driven the C4 a total of about 1,700 miles (2,722 kms). That comes to about 70 miles per month. At this rate, the car will probably outlive me. It's almost 17 years old.
The only trip we took in it last year was a drive down to the small city of Angoulême, just 165 miles south of Saint-Aignan. No trips this year... To celebrate the 2024 inspection milestone, here are a few more photos I took years ago in the town of Domfront in lower Normandy, three hours northwest of Saint-Aignan.
Great news on the car. I have a 2008 VW Eos, at my current rate of driving it, I will be 96 before it has 100,000 miles on it. At least one of us are unlikely to last that long.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info yesterday about gushier :)
ReplyDeleteGreat news about the Citroën C4!
Oops! *gosier (autocorrect happened )
ReplyDeleteGood news about the inspection. We aren't driving much anymore either. Our 2018 Prius has about 27,000 miles.
ReplyDeleteI bought the C4 in 2015 and have put only about thirty thousand miles on it.
DeleteWe need to get out more...
DeleteWe have a Prius too. Wonderful car. I wish we had the option in the States to get a Citroen.
ReplyDeleteIt would probably not be a good idea to have a Citroën in the U.S. Spare parts would be hard to come by. There is no Citroën dealer network over there. I think I would hesitate to buy anything other than a French or maybe German car here in the French countryside for the same reasons.
DeleteWith so many Americans over 60 now (I'm 76!) and none of us driving very many miles, it is a shame the insurance companies don't give us a break ! We don't have car inspections here, but I went through that with our cars when we lived in Wisconsin. Glad for the success with your car!
ReplyDeleteI'll be 76 in three months' time. And I agree with you. We do get a break on our insurance if we keep our mileage low, but it's not all that much. I think we end up paying about 750 euros a year to insure our two cars. I don't know if that's high or low in U.S. terms. We put about the same mileage on our Peugeot as on our Citroën these days.
ReplyDeleteKen that is very reasonable. Maybe one-half to one-third of what a reasonable insurance rate would be here. Most insurance companies jacked up their rates substantially last year, at least in California.
