A test post

This is what the vineyard just south of our hamlet has looked like this week. We had one day of (frigid) sunshine, but the other six days have been really cold and gray. Freezing fog moved in a few days ago, so everything is coated in frost. Plus we had a pretty moon rise a couple of days ago.

Our morning temperatures have been below freezing — as low as –9ºC (in Blois) and –8ºC (in several towns and villages closer to Saint-Aignan). That's about +15ºF.

P.S. Why am I posting on the blog today? It's because I acquired a "vertical ergonomic" mouse and it wanted to give it a workout. It's supposed to support your wrist better and cause you less pain. So far, I'm not really sure it works.

  2. That moon was beautiful. Resting the wrist takes patience.

  3. Despite the chill, the frost is pretty to look at. I hadn't heard of a vertical ergonomic mouse before - good to know about, as I may need one some day.

  4. Hi Ken :) I just wanted to see if you saw my comment about exercises to help address carpal tunnel? They helped me... Here's what I commented to Walt the other day:
Hey, does Ken know about exercises to do with his hands and arms, for helping with carpal tunnel symptoms? They helped me. I imagine that if he has seen a doctor about this, they've already given him this advice, but, if not, Google around and you should easily find some suggested exercises. There's a good PDF to download, here: https://orthoinfo.aaos.org/en/recovery/carpal-tunnel-syndrome-therapeutic-exercise-program/

    1. Judy, our médecin traitant (GP) told Walt that exercises wouldn't help him. When I go to see the doctor again I'll ask him about exercises for my my symptoms.

  5. Brrr. We have been having high 40's and low 50's. I am ready for spring. I can wait, but I don't want to!
Nice photos - I so wanted to see the moon, but our night skies have been cloudy.

  6. Your recent temperatures are much like what we've been having in New England, and even lower here on occasion. It's the coldest fall and early winter in a number of years. Un froid de canard. Hope you have some success with the new mouse. Be patient.

  7. Snow is lovely... but frost after freezing fog is way better....
I have taken over 500 shots in the past two days!! From Landscape to Macro**!!
And now the real snow has started... not heavy, but persistant and falling on frozen ground... cameras are lensed and loaded!

Re: your new mouse not having much effect, is your armrest set right, it needs to be around 1/2" above the desk surface.... also, the effect isn't instant, and it might be more painful in the short term; my wrist was.... it takes a while to adjust to the new "handshake" position after a lifetime of "pushing a toy car" around.... stay at it!!

**Macro in winter as there's not much going on outside... and to go small is less space demanding than still lifes... thelighting set up and objects are all small.... and outdoors there's loads of close-up / macro stuff lying around the house [and indoors when the weather's ghastly... especially abstract macro... as in everyday objects turned into "WTF's that??"]
