We went to Tours again yesterday and brought Tasha home. And we made it through the first night. Walt took her out on the leash twice late yesterday afternoon, and I took her out this morning. She's still limping pretty badly, but the vet says she needs a short walk two or three times a day. She is dozing in her living room corral right now. She was quiet in her loft corral overnight. Later today, we'll take her to the local veterinary clinic and have her bandage taken off.

Here are a few photos I snapped as we left the house and drove west toward the city of Tours.
These first two show the road we take from our hamlet down into the Cher river valley.

You can see that we had nice sunny weather. We had to deal with road works at a couple of points.
We drove through several villages along the way, but the road from Saint-Aignan
to Tours is a main two-lane highway that's wide and smooth.

There are many picturesque towns in the Cher river valley, like this one (Montrichard).
We looked at houses there and could have decided to live there back in 2002,
but we opted for a house in the country instead.

We drove down the Cher river valley all the way to Tours. It's a wide flat floodplain bordered by hills and bluffs.
We didn't have any trouble finding the clinique vétérinaire because we had done the same drive a day earlier.

DeleteWelcome home to Tasha!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Tasha is doing well.
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, glad Tasha is doing OK! The pictures look like it was a blustery day!
ReplyDeleteI don't really remember it being windy, but then I was mostly in the car. As we got closer to Tours we drove into some drizzle and mist.
DeleteI love seeing the bright sun light in these photos. I also enjoyed seeing your road again. So glad Tasha is adjusting to her new situation.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago our cat got sick and Lewis took her to Auburn's vet school. She had a gallbladder problem, operation with a fairly long stay there- a week I think. She came home with a feeding tube. Luckily Lewis knew how to deal with the tube. She recovered and is doing fine now.
It was a very pretty day. Good for your cat. I guess Auburn has a good veterinary school, like U. of Illinois does.
DeleteThe local vet took Tasha's bandage off today. The stitches will come out in about 10 days. Tasha and I had a good walk this afternoon, but not as long as we're used to. She seemed to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteDid you have to carry her downstairs or was she able to do it herself in this easy flight of stairs?
DeleteWe are still carrying Tasha up and down both staircases. We bring her down to the living room early in the morning and then take her back up to the loft in the evening. During the day, we take her out three or four times to walk a short distance and do her business. I just came back from the early morning walk with her.
DeleteI usually read your blog, and Walt's, at the end of the day, as a reward for having made it through yet another day of the crazy in this world. But now I'm popping in early, just to check on Tasha.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if she's doing well. The gentle walking is good to strengthen muscles again. They do that for people, too, although usually without the leash.
I guess with people you don't have to worry about them chasing birds, cats, or deer while outside.
