Your composite photo is remarkable. On it, I’m trying to locate the Lion d’Or (au lit on dort). I think it is the white three-window house between the chateau proper and the bridge.
ReplyDeleteCHM, see this Google Maps page for a lot of photos taken of and in the Lion d'Or in Amboise. The restaurant's address is 17 Quai Charles Guinot, 37400 Amboise — here's the street view photo.
DeleteThe Lion d'Or restaurant is definitely in the white building you see in the lower right-hand corner of the first photo. You can see the same building on the right in the composite panoramic view.
DeleteWhy have I not been to Amboise?! Must correct that next time.
ReplyDeleteAmboise mérite un détour. Vouvray aussi, pour le vin et les vignes.
DeleteThe photos definitely capture the feel of Spring about to burst forth! An impressive view of the chateau.
ReplyDeleteI took these photos on March 19, 2004 — very nearly the first day of Spring. So you are right.
DeleteHi Ken, I came across your blog and some posts about your French cars. This is random but I have a 1978 Renault R17 Gordini. I live in Nashville. I am having the hardest time finding a ported thermo valve to replace the one that broke because of age. Do you happen to have a mechanic or someone you know over there that might help me source one? I've exhausted my American contacts for Renault parts and I think my best option is looking in France. Thank you for any advice. Our oldest son just got accepted to Wofford College so we will be traveling through NC regularly next year! -Lee
ReplyDeleteHello Lee, do you know this British web site for Renault parts? There is a Renault dealer here in the Saint-Aignan area, but I doubt he would speak English at all. Do you speak some French? Is the valve you need a big heavy thing to ship, or is is small and light-weight?
DeleteI cleared my history on Safari and can comment again. I'm enjoying seeing Amboise so much. I see the castle everyday sitting in my chair- it's a petit point hanging on the wall;-).
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you can comment again.
