Un défilé de voitures « hippomobiles »

Hippomobile (for "horse-drawn") is a good word. It's an adjective that seems most often to modify the word voiture (car, vehicle). The dictionary I normally consult says the adjective was coined in the 1890s, and probably based on the "new" term automobile. If I remember correctly, this parade was the finale when we spent the afternoon watching the spectacle équestre at the Haras du Pin in lower Normandy.

I post all these photos and slideshows with the hope that people who are curious about France or already know they love France will find them interesting and even useful. My blog posts are viewed by between 750 and 1250 visitors every day, according to the statistics that Blogger records and shares.

  1. All these horses are beautiful and the parade is spectacular. There only one thing that doesn't fit, is the size of the carriages drawn by the horses, it is the same for one or six here, when it should go from cabs to diligences.

Do those numbers take into account that one individual may view your posts, as I do, several times a day to read and appreciate one more time your text and read the comments. I feel it like a conversation.
What I mean to say, is an individual viewer recorded only the first time she/he views this day's post?

    1. Only Blogger knows. I suspect that each time somebody opens a post on the blog, it is counted, no matter how many times that person has "visited" that particular post. Are you "visiting" a hundred times a day?

    2. No but depending of the post, it could be at least ten times, whether I post a comment or not.

    3. I doubt that anybody else visits the blog 10 times a day. My own visits are not counted, AFAIK.

    4. chm,
Those little pony traps are very balanced and easy to roll. Fun to ride in, too. Maybe not as much fun for the pony, but Shetlands are very hardy little beasts.

  7. Ken, I often visit your blog more than once a day, also. There is not a part that I don’t enjoy. I read it once through for fun, then go back later for a review of cooking lessons or to make note of a place I would like to visit. I am one of the many who are grateful that you continue with the blog.

  9. I read both Ken and Walt daily, too. In addition to the travel features and yummy food, both blogs have provided a welcome dose of normality in an otherwise extremely scary and weird year. Merci beaucoup.

  10. I'm here everyday except when traveling. Just home from Disney World with daughter and family. Masked travel is tricky, but we enjoyed ourselves nevertheless . The finale of the spectacle was formidable!
