One of the most interesting and longest segments in the spectacle équestre we saw in August 2011 at the Haras du Pin, in Normandy, featured the horse and the red-coated man you see in this slideshow. It's a demonstration of what is called dressage.
It's a wonderful show. If I remember, it's only one day a week they do it. There's great commentary -- a bit of history, the characteristics of each kind of horse and pony, and what exercise we are seeing.
Ws the man doing a commentary on the schooling exercises? It looks as if he's wearing a microphone.
ReplyDeleteActually, I don't remember. If we ever get to go back for another show, I'll take movies.
DeleteBeautiful. This horse is so elegant!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I can't figure out, the slideshow software is cropping my photos, top and bottom. It's annoying.
DeleteI figured it out. Don't know if it is better or just "new & improved...
DeleteThere must have been commentary for the commands. This part was extraordinary!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful performance.
