Little round red buds become fluffy red flowers. The pivoines or peonies are blooming right now in the back yard.
Yesterday Walt hauled everything out of the utility room downstairs and vacuumed up all the dust and dog hair. Callie and I played with the garden hose — I was washing everything that needed washing (almost everything) and Callie was trying to bite the spray from the hose. The dog loves days like yesterday: warm, nearly hot, with blue skies and no wind.
So good to see the peonies. Here in New Zealand the seasons are reversed, so we will have to wait six months for ours. It's just a few weeks for peonies, and we look forward to November.
ReplyDeleteOoh! And, our peonies have just bloomed, too! Our plant was able to get a little more sun this year, because we had to cut down the tops of a couple of trees towering over them. The first day the peonies opened, we had torrential rain and wind, so they are a little water logged, but still lovely! Deep pink, ours are.
ReplyDeleteThat peonie with the water dripping from it is absolutely beautiful. Makes me want to paint a giant canvas of it right this minute!
ReplyDeleteGreat and so beautiful flowers in .garden
ReplyDeleteI would like to grow peonies some day. Well, thirty-seven years of my life without them. Now time to grow them one of these years. I hope I will find time.
