My plum tree

This is the tree I call "my" plum tree (mon prunier) because I grew it myself from pits, first in pots and then in the ground at the northwest corner of our back yard. It's a rustic variety that blooms in late winter or early spring. Most years, the birds get the majority of the plums, but I've had a few good harvests over the years. The plums themselves are small and not very sweet, but they make really good tarts, clafoutis, sauces, and jelly or jam.

I started the day with a bang early this morning when I got out of bed. I tripped on a rug and fell down, slamming into a wall as I hit the floor. Luckily I didn't get hurt, and Walt was able to hold me by the wrist and help me get up off the floor. I hope an accident like this one will teach me to be more careful in the future.

  1. Have you removed all the small throw rugs? I'm wary of tripping over the cat too

    1. The rug I slipped on is not small. It's an area rug we've had in the same place for years. It's never been a problem before. Somehow it just slipped and took me down. I'm lucky I didn't get hurt.

  2. Your plum tree is beautiful :)
I'm sorry to hear of your tripping on the rug! So glad that you are okay. I caught the front edge of my shoe on a little area rug the other day, and down I went. Fortunately for me, too, I didn't get injured. I wasn't sure how I was going to get up, because I can't really kneel on my new knees, but I rolled over and did a kind of downward-facing-dog yoga pose, and walked my legs up to my hands and got up that way :) Yikes. So glad that Walt was there for you.

    1. I think I was very lucky. And I was afraid to try to move for a couple of minutes. Once I realized nothing was broken, I figured I'd find a way to get up off the floor. Walt's assistance was deeply appreciated. Hope you are doing well, Judy? Is Betsy there, or has she come and gone already. You are in my thoughts.

  4. You are so lucky to not have sustained serious injury. I tripped and took a spill, and took a hard landing on my left shoulder about a year ago. It broke both of my collar bones. It was very painful and luckily didn’t injure anything internally in that area. There was a lot of added chaos surrounding this fall which is somewhat comical but I won’t go into that now. It’s a story that I would have to tell to see the funny side of this. I didn’t think it would I ever heal but I did and it only bothers me a little now and then. Hope you are okay. C.

  5. All: I seem to be fine. No pain, no bruising, nothing broken or sprained.
