Here's a last post, for now, about Langeais. As soon as I can, I'm going back there to see the tapestries inside the château.
I see on the château's web site that photos sans flash are allowed in the building. And it's open now, but I'm not ready.
I'll wait for better weather and for Tasha to get better — we can't leave her alone right now. Friends from California
have talked about coming to France next summer. Maybe Langeais is an excursion they'd be interested in.

9Meanwhile, here are a few more photos that I've taken in the town and around the château in past years.
You can enlarge them on your device. Tomorrow I'll be moving down the Loire, to the west,
for my next blog posts. I do this blog because I have so many photos to share.

From the village side, it really looks like a fortress.
ReplyDeleteSome historians/architects believe that the château was originally designed to have more wings and towers, closing the park in completely and protecting the logis that you saw in those Wikipédia pages I linked to yesterday. Those additional fortifications were never built.
DeleteLooking forward to photos when you get to visit.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to have a plan for a destination, during these confined days :)
