Not Domfront...

Here's a place I've only ever seen one time. I even went inside.
The photos in this set start with a close-up and then gradually pull back and widen the view.
The last one is a composite image — a panorama. The question is: where is it? What's it called?

  1. This looks familiar but I honestly have no idea. The Chateau de...je ne sais quoi.

    1. Sorry, I'm just being lazy today. If I do a post like this I don't have to do any reading or other research. I'm busy this morning making a curry de porc aux légumes for lunch. Lot of slicing and dicing to do. I don't remember whether CHM has ever visited this château. I know I didn't go there with him.

  2. Is there anything I didn't visit? Ha, ha, ha!!!

No, I didn't go there with you. Right now, I can't remember if I went there alone or with my cousin.
Now that I've located it, I know I visited it on my way to Amboise on my Vespa, and a little before I had that memorable lunch at the Hôtel des Trois Marchands. I didn't remember the chateau as such, but I did remember the vasque in the cour d'honneur. Strange what your brain thinks it should rememberI
First, because of the copy of Diane Chasseresse, I thought it was Anet, but the other photos didn't look lke it. Then I saw the vasque...

    1. Judy, to show you how the brain works, I thought it was the chateau de Villevoisin. I Googled Villevoisin and it was not at all what Ken showed. Then the brain worked a little more and gave me the right answer. I googled it, and that was it. Now, I gave you half the answer, the ball is in your court.

  4. Now, a little work and a little fun. Remember, there is no free lunch! Now, I told Judy I googled chateau de Villevoisin. Even though it wasn't it, I told her I gave her half the answer. So, what could it be? Half of Villevoisin is Ville. No? So if you google chateaux with ville, you'll get the aswer. Now, get busy!

  6. Well I know it's not Vaux le Vicomte. I tried your search, chm, and came up with about 7 or 8 chateaux, all of which were lovely, but not the subject above. ;-)

    3. CHM, that search doesn't work for me the way it works for you. I get Château-Ville-Vieille, a town in southeastern France.

    4. For me it is the third enty and the second Wikipedia page, after chateau Ville-Vieille. Evelyn find it with my directions, but she is also in the States. Could there be a difference?

    6. I was using Firefox and never found the Wiki page in question. Then I searched using DuckDuckGo and there it was.

    7. Chrome doesn't find it either.

    8. All this is very interesting. I use Duckduckgo for your blog since Apple didn't let Puffin be upgraded.
But I use Google for my searches. Isn't Google the same everywhere no matter the browser you use?
Now Puffin is back (?) and I use it for JMG only.

When I ask that question In Chrome the result is appartments in Indianapolis. If I click Google within Chrome and ask the same question I get things in Clearwater, Florida. If I click on Google app and ask that question I get the result I posted here. Three different results with the same search engine!
      I am lost!

    1. We can do that. It's very close to Chambord and not far from Saint-Aignan.

  9. Oh, I found it! - with chm's hints - by Googling "loire chateau ville." Looks beautiful. Is it owned by the state or in private hands, I wonder?
