The heat is on again this morning, and the boiler seems to be running just fine. Today is the second of the three days called les saints de glace, which are May 11, 12, and 13. It's chilly outside, but not near freezing. Yesterday we had what you could call giboulées de mai — cold, windy rainshowers. It's like March. The danger of frost is supposedly over on May 14. Let's hope the weather warms up soon.
The last photo is intriguing. Is it a faux stone pattern or real stone? I bet it's a plaster coating on brick.
ReplyDeleteThe furniture is mostly country style.
I don't know anything about that ceiling. I was a suprised and intrigued by the photo when I saw it, and didn't remember taking it. That was a busy day in 2011 with the Haras du Pin, Bellême, and Carrouges. Besides, there were five or six of us touring around together, talking all the time.
DeleteI think I've seen real estate shows set in France, referring to that flooring as something or other... something traditional, with a name (some kind of tile)... is there a name?
ReplyDeleteTomettes are those hexagonal, brick-colored tiles. Other tiles are called carrelage.
DeleteYes, I think Tomettes was the term!
DeleteThese details are interesting. The wallpaper has a curious romantic combination of classical and then modern, I guess with the roses. My parent's bedroom had rose wallpaper that looked like it in style and color- the wallpaper maker may have been a copycat lol.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful details. I especially like the wood floor.
ReplyDeleteThanks for making me more curious about the wood floor. See tomorrow's post.
DeleteLove the floors. That neoclassical naked person in the wallpaper seems to have had a close call with the unicorn's horn, if that's what it is!
