It was three weeks ago when I fell as I was going upstairs to the loft and injured myself. I'm healing but still sporting various types of bandages. It's a long, slow process. I had three weeks of daily and then every-other day visits from local nurses.
It was three months ago that I called my ophthalmologist's office in Blois to request a rendez-vous with him. The earliest appointment I could get was in October. After more phone calls, I finally ended up with an appointment scheduled for September 9. That's just two weeks from now. I'm optimistic that I'll be able to see better afterward. That will probably require new glasses. Getting those will take 10 to 12 days or more.
What a summer it is been! Today is the first day since mid-May that we can enjoy "normal" temperatures in the mid-70s ºF and feel hopeful that we won't have another heat wave in 2026. Three was plenty. Who knows what's normal these days.
So happy to see your post this morning, and glad to hear you’re on the mend. Yes, it’s cooler here in the Diois this morning, thank goodness, we’ve even had a rain shower. Like you, we’ve had enough canicule to last us a lifetime! You can now look forward to the autumn - fully recovered from the fall, new glasses, and good eyesight to enjoy the autumn colours. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane. Is the second fire in the Drôme me now extinguished or at least contained now? I hope os. We had thunder, lightning and rain last night, Walt has told me. I slept through it.
DeleteIt is great to hear from you. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks David. Hope you are doing well. Ken
Deleteso glad to hear an update. I checked daily since your fall so it's a relief to finally get news. You really had a bad injury Hope the worst is over with the heat and that you can get glasses that work!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to get my vision back for close-up work and reading fine print.
DeleteHi, Ken! It is very good to hear from you. I'm hoping for continued improvements for you :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Anxious to hear from either of you! Looking forward to cooler weather here, too! So glad you are healing!
ReplyDeleteYes, It is so good to hear from you. Hoping all will go better for you. Linda from Alabama
ReplyDeleteAs others have said, very very glad for the update! Sending healing vibes from California. Christine
ReplyDeleteHopefully the heat waves are behind you. Let's hope your eye doctor gives you the relief you've been seeking.
ReplyDeleteIt feels downright cold here today, with a temperature outdoors of about 52º F. But I''lll take it.
DeleteSo happy to hear from you and to learn that you are recovering, albeit slowly!

Gosh, it's great to see your post this morning! I'm glad your leg is healing with the good care of the visiting nurse. Everything will be better when you get your new glasses. Take care, you have a lot of friends who care about you-myself included in the group.
ReplyDeleteHi Evelyn, I haven't been good about details (eye sight problems and all). It is my two arms that were injures. Not my legs. When I realized I was falling on the stairs, I tried to catch myself. Then I injured my arms and also bruised a rib.
DeleteKen it's so good to hear from you - you made my day.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diogenes. Today is the first time I've changed my own bandages instead of relying on a nurse to come do it. That's progress. I fee fine but I have to be vigilant all the time, especially on stairs..
DeleteGlad to hear from you again, Ken! You guys are on my daily list, best wishes from Downunder ;-)!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to see your post today! I have really missed you and was so worried that I checked to make sure that you and Walt weren’t in a wildfire area. Here in the Okanagan BC, we have been preoccupied with our own heat wave, drought, wildfires close by and heavy smoke that’s been hanging in the air. Quite unnerving. However, for the first time in two months we are getting a thorough drenching of rain as I write this and hoping that you receive some rain to heal your land. Get well soon and take care of yourself. C.
ReplyDeleteWe had good rain last night. Just enough and not too much. Now it's only about a week until I see the ophthalmologist again (finally!).
