Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS8 photos

I took these yesterday morning on my walk with the dog using a Lumix ZS8 camera that I bought in the spring of 2012. It was my favorite camera for years. I stopped using it much about 6 months ago when I got my Samsung smartphone and starting using its built-in camera. Actually, I bought two ZS8 cameras back then — one new and one used. Both work great. At the time, I wanted to have a backup ZS8 in case something happened to one of them.

These are some of the things I see when I go out to walk with Natasha the Sheltie early in the morning. The sun was just coming up yesterday morning when we were walking — me snapping and 'Tasha sniffing...

  1. Great color. Do you see a difference in these photos as opposed to your phone?

    1. I set the Lumix cameras to capture images in "vivid" mode (not in "standard" or "natural"). I'm not sure how to do that in the settings of the smartphone camera. I have to look into it. It's images are not as colorful.

    2. I did some research and I found that I can modify the color tone of pictures on the smart phone camera. I'm happy about that. Now I have to take some pictures to see the difference.

    1. Did you escape that monster rainstorm with no flooding? I hope you did.

  3. I could look at daffodils all day. We don't really have them here.

Curious to see that palm tree in your picture. Will they survive where you are?

    1. I assume it does survive from year to year. Maybe a really hard freeze would damage or kill it.

    2. I think this is a hardy species of fan palm that tolerates freezing temperatures. Link:

  4. Love all the pictures. Especially the one with the clusters of tiny yellow flowers. What are they called?
