Domfront — paysages

The middle of May in 2005 in the southern part of Normandy around the town of Domfront. Green, green, green. This is an area where a lot of pears are grown and made into pear cider (poiré in French).

  1. That is what is called LUSH vegetation.... it looks lovely!!
And lots of small fields with tree'd hedgerow boundaries.
Pear cider is a term I have never heard before, but I now know why Americans say apple cider!
In the UK, the old English word "Perry" is the term for cider made from pear juice.
But there is another American term I cannot understand and that is "hard cider".... is there a soft cider like the French "cidre doux"

  2. Hard cider is cider with alcohol, like the Strongbow brand. There are many brands and they are quite popular in the States now. Regular cider would be non-alcoholic.
