Two views of the Pont des Arts

The Pont des Arts is a pedestrian bridge that links the Institut de France on the Left Bank of the Seine to the Louvre on the Right Bank. Above, you see the western tip of the Île de la Cité, the spire of the Sainte-Chapelle, and the bell towers and spire of Notre Dame cathedral as it looked in July 2013.

This is a view of the Pont des Arts as seen from the entrance into the Cour Carrée du Louvre, looking toward the Left Bank. I took the photo on 26 July 2013.

  1. The bridges themselves are great looking.

  2. The Pont des Arts may be better known as the cadenas (padlock) bridge.
They were all removed because of the weight on the bridge.
The Senegalese sculptor, Ousmane Sow, exposed some of his sculptures on the Pont des Arts a few years ago.
Is that a quizz the steeple on the left?

    1. That was not a quiz but an oubli. I couldn't remember tne name of the Sainte-Chapelle this morning. We're pretty busy right now, with a delivery of 5 cubic meters of firewood (1.35 cords) that now has to be stacked. Work for the week...

  3. I love seeing all the people in the second photo- the kissing couple is sweet.
