The blue plates and planters give a happy charm to the area. Vines can be attractive growing on buildings but that one building looks way overgrown.
I think most of these buildings and houses look overgrown, except the one with all the blue platters and planter boxes.

I love all the clutter in the blue photo.
I like the look of vines growing on buildings too. In answer to Betty Ann's question, yes depending on the type of vine they can be damaging and weaken the mortar. Or weaken the surface of the sandstone.
