Five more Montrésor church photos... This makes three weeks I've been posting photos I've taken in one village over the past dozen years. I have a few more in my archives, and I might just continue posting Montrésor photos as we move into the holiday season.
Most of us, when we go touring around, just wander and look for striking, colorful, interesting, and unusual things to look at and point the camera at. That's what I do. And I hope you enjoy the photos.
It's the atmosphere of a village, château, or church that we are interested in. It's not so much the historical or architectural details that matter.
In other words, a blog like this one is not an encyclopedia. It's more like a magazine.
Writing encyclopedia articles is a lot of work. As a retired person and senior citizen, I don't go out looking for work. I have plenty of that to do in the kitchen, yard, and garden.
We enjoy your "magazine!"
ReplyDeleteIndeed, your "magazine" is highly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteThose stained glass windows are remarkable. 19th century or earlier? I don't think of you as a senior citizen. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAccording to this web page, the stained glass is Renaissance. And the painting is by Philippe de Champaigne, 17th century.
DeleteI agree with you , D., the stained glass windows are very beautiful.
DeleteHere's a page with more photos of the church in Montrésor.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, certainly enjoy this very exhaustive series on Montrésor.
ReplyDeleteOff topic, Congratulations Evelyn and Lewis.
Evelyn wrote an e-mail to tell me she is having trouble getting comments to post to the blog. I don't know why. But I don't know if she knows yet that Jones beat Moore.
DeleteJust like Evelyn, I, sometimes, have problems with Blogger, and posts disappear for any reason. Google has too many fingers in too many pies to take care of everything. Even though Blogger is free, I'm sure it brings a lot of money to Google on the side.
DeleteThe reason I wrote what I did this morning was that I didn't have time to do any research to verify whether the painting and stained glass I was posting in photos were really attributed, respectively, to Ph. de Champaigne and/or Renaissance artists. Later this morning, I had time to do some Googling.
ReplyDeleteEncyclopedia or magazine, either way, I learn many things along the way, from reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in the stained glass here.
Speaking of having trouble leaving a comment: I left one on yesterday's post, thanking you for the interesting info on the terms gîte and gisant, and I was sure that I had seen it post, and yet, it's not there today! And, I frequently have my page end up refreshing itself right in the middle of my writing a blog post, and ... OP! The words get erased. Who knows why! Just letting you know that there may be more people wanting/trying to post comments, but blogger isn't being friendly.

It's a great day in Alabama! Posting from Chrome, but still having difficulties with post disappearing.
ReplyDeleteI've made a change in my blog settings. Let's see if comments work better this way. Personally. I've about given up trying to comment on blogs using my tablet. Too often the text just suddenly disappears before I can post it. It's hard to tell if it is Blogger or a browser version that's causing the problem.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been trying for several days to thank you for this very interesting and informative series on Montrésor but I too am suffering from disappearing comments. Let’s see what happens with this one.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it is a great day for Evelyn and the rest of the country!
Your photos are beautiful and they stand on their own. I love churches and old buildings so these are pleasing to me. I am retired too and am happy I found your blog.
ReplyDeleteTerra, thank you for your kind comment.
ReplyDeleteHi BettyAnn, sorry commenting has been problematic. Thanks for not giving up. Wishing you happy holidays, Ken
ReplyDeleteEvelyn, there have been problems with Blogger blogs vs. Safari in the past. Browsers do their own thing. I've been having a lot of trouble with Firefox on Android recently. I hope they'll get it fixed sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteLewis likes to take our laptops apart to install new batteries, memory etc. He has a nice set of tiny screwdrivers which come in handy for lots of tasks. He also drops screws...
