Next week we'll be spending a couple of days with English friends who live about an hour south of Saint-Aignan. Walt and I would both like to be feeling a lot better by then. I feel a little better this morning, but I felt the same way yesterday morning and then got worse and worse as the day went on.

Oh, didn't I mention that I have now passed the crud on to Walter? He today is where I was on Tuesday — just the beginning stages. Sigh. Now it's time to take the dog out for her morning walk. Somebody's got to do it. And tomorrow I absolutely have to get to the morning market in Saint-Aignan to pick up that guinea fowl capon we plan to cook on Sunday.
We will miss you! Recover from your cold soon so you can enjoy the holidays. Take a break from your blog -- you deserve it! Hope 2012 has good things in store for you and Walt!
ReplyDeleteHello Ken,
ReplyDeleteFirst a very happy holiday to you and Walt. I have been taking advantage of being on vacation (since yesterday!) to catch up with blogs a bit.
Speaking of "crud," did I ever tell you -- I probably did -- that I was sick pretty much all of the time during the winter when we lived in Tours? Apparently the area has the most ear, nose and throat problems in France.
Of little consolation, but for your information!
Merry Christmas!
Betty, thanks for the message. My experience here is that I have many few colds than I did in Paris or San Francisco. Usually, when I get a cold it's because I've flown to the U.S. or spent a day or two in Paris. But now I've had two since summer. Hope it isn't a new trend.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays to you and your family.
Cheryl, hi, and thanks for the good wishes. I hope you enjoy the holidays too.
It is surprising how rarely I catch a cold from my partner, or he from me. Perhaps that says a bit about our relationship as we age.
ReplyDeleteI don't regularly leave a comment. But I am a daily reader. I hope you are both better soon. Thanks for this year sharing with me your beautiful world. Merry Christmas to you and Walt.
ReplyDeletethat sucks to be sick at xmas......maybe the champagne will be a cure......hope you both feel better in time to enjoy being with friends.....take lots of naps! Merry Xmas & thanks for sharing your french life....i read every day.....my daughter's package finally got to her in paris after spending a week in the bahamas.....so she got the decorations just under the wire
ReplyDeleteI am 100% with Cheryl[Hi Cheryl!]. Hope you and Walt recover very fast. BTW was it a belated birthday gift? Try to relax and enjoy the festivities.
ReplyDeleteHere's to health coming on you soon. I find that using one of those nasal decongestant sprays like Afrin helps tremendously when I get a cold. You should only use it a few days, but it REALLY helps with the symptoms (and that seems, honestly, to end up helping shorten the cold itself).
ReplyDeleteI hope your Christmas is a nice one!
Merry Christmas to everyone else here :))
Judy
Somehow, I don't think the crud was what Walt had in mind as a holiday/birthday gift. Of course you feel better in the morning -- you've just spent however many hours doing nothing. It's all the mischief that you get up to during the day that saps your energy and intensifies the symptoms. I do hope you take it easy for the next few days and have a happy, happy holiday.
ReplyDeleteSorry you guys got sick at this time. I hope you'll be much recovered soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a horrible time to be under the weather, Ken. And now, Walt. I'm hoping that both of you will bounce back in time to spend a wonderful Christmas with your friends.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all and to all the others who read this as well!

Hope you feel better soon. At least the sun is out today, don't know about you but it always makes me feel better.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and Walt a Happy Christmas despite the runny noses, sore throats and coughs.
I'm really sorry to learn that both of you are under the weather !!! I hope that both of you will soon recover from this nasty cold... Bises and Joyeux Noël to both of you nevertheless !
ReplyDeleteMary
Take care of yourself and enjoy your holidays as a healthy reveller. Thank you for a year of delightful posts and delicious recipes. I am addicted to the daily dose of France you provide for me and your other fans.
ReplyDeleteKen, we wish you better health immediately and a merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteBon Noël, Marie-Jacques. Yes, it's one of the bottles of calva that you brought to us last summer. To make a grog with it, what... honey and lemon. Entre deux accès de toux, Bises.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn and Ernie, thanks and happy holidays to you two too.
Mary in Oregon, Antoinette, Starman, CHM, Pat, Melinda, Louise, and Andrew, I hope you all have a very merry... and stay well.
Judy, thanks for the card. Merry Christmas to you and E. too. Hope you enjoy your first Christmas of married life and the new house.
Joyeux Noël!
ReplyDeleteGet well! Hope you and Walt are having a quiet, albeit merry Christmas and recovering from your "crèves". Hope this one is IT for the whole season.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Ken!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. Thank you for writing a blog. Until I started reading your blog and Walt's I didn't know what it would be like to live in France. I had subscribed to other blogs in France. Nothing compares to your blog. Nothing. You have helped me "see" parts of France, feel like I am right there. Without my even asking you have covered an entire range of topics of life outside the States. I fully and completely appreciate every bit of your efforts in doing so. Love the pictures too! I seldom go to bed without first reading the days post on your blog. Kim, in Wisconsin.
