Then we had to leave to meet Bill from New Hampshire and go to lunch with him at the restaurant called L'Herbe Rouge in Valaire, near Chaumont-sur-Loire. Nice lunch, but nothing very fancy. Good wine: a red Pineau d'Aunis.Ken Broadhursthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04430899802705818716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-26119279733249478212009-09-16T18:11:26.602+02:002009-09-16T18:11:26.602+02:00I'm glad no one yelled at us also, Ken.

Better still an elderly man tried to pick me up when I asked him for directions to our B&B outside of Aix. He was cutting a hedge (made me think of Walt- but this fellow was older than I) and very happy to give me directions. He said he still had a healthy heart, etc before showing me where the nearby house was.Evelynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10778535302848508224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-16667488390257984252009-09-16T17:57:19.522+02:002009-09-16T17:57:19.522+02:00Walt says it's the descendants of Pierre de Co...Walt says it's the descendants of Pierre de Couderc, a royal secretary at the end of the 1700s, who own the château today.
