We've enjoyed a bottle of the méthode traditionnelle brut réserve sparkling wine over the past couple of days.Ken Broadhursthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04430899802705818716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-60127249086007233302017-11-09T14:12:07.248+01:002017-11-09T14:12:07.248+01:00This post reminds me of our first visit to the Vou...This post reminds me of our first visit to the Vouvray area, in the 1980's. We drove into the town of Vouvray looking for wine, and saw a sign saying something like Maison du Vin. Figuring that it was probably a place where you could taste wines from many Vouvray producers, we went in. Inside were a few rickety tables, and a woman in the next room ironing her laundry. She came into the main room and asked us what we wanted to taste. It was clear that it was a tasting room for one winery. So we tried a few wines, most of which were pretty dreadful. But I'm sure we bought something.Bob Rossihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08349830722788278723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-19399844418818336762017-11-09T12:27:07.555+01:002017-11-09T12:27:07.555+01:00Yes you do...Yes you do...Ken Broadhursthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04430899802705818716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-47041881433820257392017-11-09T05:28:24.229+01:002017-11-09T05:28:24.229+01:00The sparkling and still Vouvray wines are very goo...The sparkling and still Vouvray wines are very good. I don't remember if you and Leon went and bought wine from Aubert in Vouvray. The local Touraine bubbly wines are good too, but they are made with a mix of grapes, not exclusively from Chenin Blanc as in Vouvray.Ken Broadhursthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04430899802705818716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-7685036120191053832017-11-09T05:25:29.229+01:002017-11-09T05:25:29.229+01:00Oh there are stands of bamboo here and there aroun...Oh there are stands of bamboo here and there around the countryside in France. Buying wines in France directly from the producers is the way to go if you want good prices. That way, you pay no retail mark-up. On French wines exported to the U.S. you pay a lot more because of shipping costs as well as mark-up.Ken Broadhursthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04430899802705818716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-70027773734202693102017-11-09T05:22:56.477+01:002017-11-09T05:22:56.477+01:00I see you and Marie in one of the photos in the 20...I see you and Marie in one of the photos in the 2009 post showing scenes inside the Aubert Winery that I linked to.Ken Broadhursthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04430899802705818716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-75913748926074916432017-11-08T21:37:42.182+01:002017-11-08T21:37:42.182+01:00Oh yum!
