Don't you just eat the shells? Do you remove the legs or something? I grew up eating shrimp on the N.C. coast and eating the shells just goes against the grain as far as I'm concerned. I have eaten those tiny crevettes grises, shell and all, but don't particularly enjoy them.Ken Broadhursthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04430899802705818716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-62608340885130250332007-03-11T23:49:00.000+01:002007-03-11T23:49:00.000+01:00Next time we're together, I'll have to teach you h...Next time we're together, I'll have to teach you how to eat shrimp and prawns in their shells, which can be very tasty.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18071407.post-60903496609871039372007-03-11T19:34:00.000+01:002007-03-11T19:34:00.000+01:00An impressive description Ken. And since my partner ran off to the Alps this week on a ski trip and left me here all to my lonesome, I decided to start a little belated blogging to see what I would find in the way of other Americans wasting away in France. :)

I moved to France in 2003 as well! After 25+ years in San Francisco and "alentours". Sort of a 50th aniversary to myself.

Nice to see others who made the leap. We decided to eat at Mere Poulard because, after all, we don't live so close as you do and this was probably our last visit there. I can still hear the rhythm of the cooks beating the eggs. Dum-chicky-chicky-chicky. Dum-chicky. Dum-chicky.Etc. It was fun just to watch them. We were seated in the no-smoking section (until the couple sat down next to us and proceeded to smoke a half-pack of cigarettes between them). The lamb was excellent, the omelet way too big. We each had a coup de champagne and, after two little sips, I spilled mine. Service was ok but a little perfunctory.
This entry of yours reminded me so clearly of what it is actually like to eat in a restaurant like this. The detail was so evocative.
By the way, I am recovering well from the heart attack I had three weeks ago today.
Dennis MartinAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
