Montreal mural

I keep looking at this photo and wondering what the significance of the artwork is.

It's in downtown Montréal. Right now, as you read this, we are either wandering around in CDG/Roissy airport or sitting down in a restaurant for lunch. Then we'll be taking the train to Tours and on to Saint-Aignan. We hope Callie will be happy to see us. And Bert.

Update: here we are in the airport at Boston on Saturday afternoon.

Update #2: we are in the airport in Paris, waiting for our train down to Tours and Saint-Aignan. It's 9:45 a.m. on Sunday. We had a good flight. More tomorrow.

  1. Welcome home! I bet Callie will go crazy with joy when she sees you and Walt after two long weeks of absence. Have a nice a restful Sunday to recover from jetlag.

  4. Welcome back to the "Land of Goat's Cheese, Wine and Honey"
Now relax, get over all the excitement and back down to the earth.

  5. It's much smoother traveling with a loved one (spouse!), isn't it? Not to mention having only one direct flight, instead of the complicated flights you have to do on your trips to NC.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall to see Callie's reaction when she sees you!

  6. Welcome home, Ken and Walt. It must be nice to be back home.

Here are a couple of websites concerning the "Lips" mural. It's actually the oldest, still surviving mural in the city. Some people say that the smoke represents the hot Montréal summers; others, given that the mural was painted in 1972,believe that the smoke represents the drug culture of the time.

  7. Here is my own explanation of what the artwork could mean: The Verb [God] creates the sun and the planets.

  9. Thanks for those links, Dean.

It is good to be back at home, Starman.

Evelyn, we've spent some quality time with Bertie and Callie seems peaceful and content. She looks beautiful.
