Sunsets, markets, fog

I mentioned yesterday that the mayor of the village had asked us for some photos of local sunsets that she might use on the village web pages. Here's one that I took a few years ago and that I like a lot, for the colors.

Saint-Aignan sunset

Today's a busy day. We're going to the market to buy some... escargots. We are in France, after all. The snails will be the first course of our lunch on Monday. We're planning a Burgundy-themed meal for that day. First escargots bourguignons (with garlic/parsley butter) and then a fondue bourguignonne, which is a meat fondue — tender beef that you cook at the table and eat with different sauces.

The back yard about 10 minutes ago — foggy morning

It's going to be a damp day, but with any luck we'll finish our shopping in Saint-Aignan's open-air market before the drizzle starts. Other errands will take us to a garden center (Gamm'Vert) and a hardware store (Bricorama), as well as to the wine co-op to get our plastic jugs filled with good vin de pays (local non-AOC wine).

  1. That sunset picture is F.A.B. Ken... the only artist I have ever seen come close is Turner!... if it was on Flickr it would be in my gallery "Skyview"... it would make a really great print at a large size... on the fog front... same here... I can just make out the trees along the river... but there is an upside... I can't see M.Salais's slurry tank!! :-)

  6. I still have vivid memories of Saturdays in Bourgogne with my au pair family, when we'd spend time at their old farm house not far from Vézelay. That foggy photo and mention of going out to market really brought that back, remembering the feel of being out early on a crisp but damp marketing morning :))

Do you have a link to the community website where your photos will be?

  9. Love those pinks and purples you captured. Yes, I would enjoy the link to your local community site as well.

Running errands like yours would be wonderful - not like the ones I have here! No marché, no refilling wine jugs, etc.
