Callie update — surgery

I phoned the vet who's on call today — it turns out he's the one who took care of Collette between 2003 and 2006 — and he told me to bring Callie in immediately. I did. He took an x-ray and said he could see that Callie has swallowed something that has blocked up her digestive system. It could be a little rock, or a little green apple (the yard is full of them), or a cork or other piece of wood.

The upshot is that she is having emergency surgery this afternoon. The vet will call later to let us know how she comes through. And then, if all goes well, we'll be able to bring her home tomorrow during the day.

It's always something, isn't it? Keep your fingers crossed.

  1. So sorry to read about Callie being ill! I am sure everything will be alright though. And it's good that you know the vet 'de service' and know you can trust him/her.
Let us know how things are going...

  2. I think it's lucky you took her to the vet early......my mother's corgi ate a piece of corn cob out of the garbage & had bad problems from a blockage that wasn't attended to.....courage Callie ! It's hard waiting to hear.

  3. My thoughts are with you and Walter! Poor Calie. She's one spunky girl... I'm sure she'll give it her all. My dog Zephyr used to eat rocks when she was a puppy. We had many close calls. I thought she would be like this forever and then one day she jsut decided she was too grown up for that. Here's hoping the same holds true for MZ. Callie.
